About Research Integrity Rounds

The Research Integrity Rounds are organized at 3 times a year at Radboudumc to stimulate dialogue and debate about matters of research integrity. All members of the academic community, from student to PhD candidate to professor, are invited to join this exchange, especially for master students and research staff. PhD candidates can add the Research Integrity Rounds to their Training and Supervision Plan (TSP).

Upcoming Research Integrity Round #27 Research integrity dilemmas in the context of the revised Code

On 20 October 2026, the revised Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity has been launched. The ‘old’ code was introduced in 2018. Yet, our research practice has developed and new issues have emerged.

The new code has refreshed, more concise and concrete formulations of principles and rules. It also refers to new developments like the use of digital technology in research. The importance of a positive research culture is emphasized as well.

All researchers active in the Netherlands, from students to senior researchers, are expected to commit themselves to the new code. So, what's in it? In Research Integrity Round#27, we will introduce the new code through a series of interactive case deliberations.

The revised code points to the importance of dialogue and deliberation about integrity issues. We step up to the plate with RIR#27. Principles and rules are general; they need interpretation to be of guidance in the specific integrity issues that confront us on the daily working floor of academic research. In case more principles and rules are at stake simultaneously or even conflict and steer us into diverse directions, we need to balance and judge how to navigate with integrity.

We will discuss specific issues from each of the phases of research mentioned in Chapter 3 of the code. The public is invited to take a position on dilemmas, discuss reasons and arguments for options, listen to each other's considerations, and, of course, take into account the principles and rules of the revised code.

We welcome you to join us in this dialogue!

RIR#27 is organized in close collaboration with the confidential advisors for Scientific  integrity from Radboud university / Radboudumc.

Annual NRIN symposium

RIR#27 is scheduled within the program of the annual symposium of the Netherlands Research Integrity Network (NRIN) that takes place at Radboudumc this year. We are honored to host this NRIN event that aims to introduce the new code in the Dutch research community.

Registration

Radboudumc students and researchers who want to visit the RIR#27 can register for attendance in the usual way through www.radboudumc.nl/researchintegrityrounds. Those interested in the whole symposium day can register through this link. In case you are from Radboudumc and plan to attend the whole day, be sure to register for both the NRIN symposium and the RIR#27.

After the RIR and the closure of the NRIN symposium there will be drinks.
