About
We aim to improve outcomes in inflammatory bowel disease by integrating patient-centered care, clinical innovation, smart technologies, and sustainable healthcare.
Research group leader
dr. Marjolijn Duijvestein
Aims
- We aim to discover how outcomes in IBD, both surgical and medical, can be improved, addressing not only disease control but also persistent fatigue and quality of life.
- We aim to discover how innovative technologies, such as smart toilet systems and ingestible sensor capsules (smart pills), can be used to monitor disease activity and treatment response in real time.
- We aim to discover how environmental sustainability and societal demands, such as the growing shortage of resources and capacity for chronic disease care, can be integrated into clinical decision-making to minimize the ecological footprint and enhance the long-term viability of gastroenterology care.
