A Framework for standards and assessment of accessing identifiable patient data for medical scientific research has been developed in the Radboudumc. This has been translated into a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) found in the Quality Systems Scientific Human Research. This SOP describes how to use research functionalities in Epic to record research activities in patients and healthy volunteers. It further describes the Epic authorization process for Radboudumc employees (with or without direct patient care), students, internal/external monitors, and external researchers.
