About generic skills courses at Radboud University
Radboud University offers many generic skills courses to all PhD candidates and postdocs of the university, including Radboudumc PhD candidates. Please visit CAPP for an overview of all courses.
To ensure that all Radboudumc PhD candidates can complete a basic set of courses, a selection of courses is offered free of charge to the departments that employ them. Most other courses provided by Radboud University are also accessible to Radboudumc PhD candidates; however, the costs for these courses are charged to the employing department.

Availability and payment of courses at Radboud University

All Radboud University PhD courses (gROW) are available to all Radboudumc PhD candidates, except for courses with a Radboudumc alternative.

Courses about (basic) essential skills for PhD candidates will be paid from the central research budget (no costs for the department).

Participation in other courses will be charged to the budget of the department to which the PhD candidate is affiliated (through an employment contract or an MTA [“with permission present”] contract). PhD candidates should agree with their supervisor before enrolling in the course.

Procedures for Radboud University courses

PhD candidates discuss with their supervisor which courses are most relevant to them and when.

PhD candidates get a written consent from their supervisor that they can follow a certain course. This may be an email to the PhD candidate.

PhD candidates register for the course (and the event!) on gROW.

The department will be charged for the course if this is not one of the basic skills courses listed above. The names of PhD candidates and the courses they took will appear on an overview to the department manager. (Please note: it may take up to 12 months to charge the course to the department, because the Radboud University sends only annual bills).
