On the 13th of October Kioa Wijnsma, theme Renal disorders, won the best thesis award 2019 (Proefschriftprijs) enabled by the Dutch Kidney Foundation and the Dutch Federation of Nephrology (NfN). At this first virtual meeting of the Dutch Nephrology Days three nominees, selected from more then 10 submissions, presented their thesis with an oral presentation.
The jury was impressed by her thesis entitled "a new era in hemolytic uremic syndrome, diagnosis and treatment of a rare disease" and her excellent oral presentation.
Her thesis supervisors, Nicole van de Kar, Bert van den Heuvel, Jack Wetzels and Elena Volokhina are very proud of this excellent achievement and are pleased that she continues her work as a postdoc reseacher at the department of pediatric nephrology besides her residency in Pediatrics.
