The Cooling for COVID-19 healthcare workers (COOLVID) study is a collaborative project between the department of Physiology (Yannick de Korte, Coen Bongers, Thijs Eijsvogels), TNO and INUTEQ (manufacturer of cooling vests). The research team investigates the benefits of a wearing a cooling vest in COVID-19 healthcare workers, as the use of personal protective equipment limits their heat dissipation capacity and increases thermal stress. SBS6 Hart van Nederland interviewed Thijs Eijsvogels and Mike Zwartkruis (nurse, intern at our department) about this study and their experiences. The item was broadcasted on Friday June 5th and can be viewed here.

You can learn more about the COOLVID study in this movie (in dutch).
