Dick started as a PhD candidate on "The role of endothelin-1 in the regulation of vascular tone in deconditioning and aging" and in the subsequent years smoothly progressed to respectively assistant and associate professor. He also obtained a professorship at the University of Liverpool. We all know Dick as a very busy, efficient and highly successful colleague, who fully deserves his new function. Together, it is easy to conclude that his energy level seems unbeatable. Furthermore, Dick is a pleasant and highly supportive colleague. Thus, the Department of Physiology is really proud that Dick is a prominent member of our staff. The department also would like to congratulate his wife Susanne, and kids Aafke, Bram, and Wout with Dick’s great accomplishment.
