The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (VWS) is currently preparing a Control over Human Biomaterials Act [Wet zeggenschap lichaamsmateriaal] (Wzl) which will serve in the future as a specific legal framework for the (further) use of body tissue for medical scientific research. The Act aims to give patients more control over biomaterial that has been collected in healthcare, but is this in the patient's interest?
