Last year the Radboud Biobank participated for the first time in the IBBL Biospecimen Proficiency Testing program endorsed by ISBER. This testing program is an external quality assessment tool to verify the precision and accuracy of biospecimen testing methods and the efficiency of processing methods. The Radboud Biobank participated in the program for viable PBMC isolation and the program for cell free DNA Extraction from whole blood. Stabilized whole blood received from IBBL was processed by the Radboud Laboratory for Diagnostics by our standard procedure followed by the cfDNA extraction performed by the Genetics department. The PBMCs were isolated from donor blood by the Laboratory of Medical Immunology with the AutoMACS.
DNA and PBMCs where sent back to IBBL for the analysis. Recently we received the reports of the Proficiency tests which resulted in a quality certificate for both methods. The participants’ mean (n=11 cfDNA and n=53 PBMC) is considered as the assigned value and basic statistics were performed.
If you are interested in the methods or report in more detail, please contact the Radboud Biobank.
