In almost half of the patients who undergo coronary angiography due to angina pectoris, there appears to be no evidence of obstructive coronary artery disease.

Myocardial ischaemia can be caused by coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD). The ambition of the sub-biobank CMD is to store biomaterial and associated clinical data of all patients undergoing a coronary reactivity test in the Radboudumc to enable future research into the pathophysiology of the various vascular function disorders. A better understanding of this will make future research into new treatment methods possible.
