Goals

  • To improve guidelines through evidence-based guidance on sedentary behavior, optimal physical activity ‘dose’, and excessive volumes of exercise for public/disease-specific guidelines.
  • To understand exercise through understanding its underlying mechanisms and by improving the benefits and use of exercise protocols.
  • To optimize the content, use and implementation of exercise-/physical activity-based interventions in order to improve co-creation and implementation.
  • To understand differences in effects of exercise and physical activity between groups and individuals, leading to precision exercise medicine, optimizing its effects for all populations.

Research Research programs Exercise = medicine

Our mission

We aim to improve our understanding, from the molecule to man to population, of the health effects of physical activity, ranging from sedentary behavior to vigorous-intensity exercise and to apply physical activity and exercise as a 'medicine’ within the Radboudumc healthcare, work and home-environment.
