To explore the molecular and immunological basis of glomerular diseases, tubular transport disorders, vascular calcification, kidney replacement therapy and ciliopathies.
To develop biomarkers for optimal prediction of disease prognosis and treatment efficacy.
To study therapeutic strategies that emerge from these insights.

Computational pathology

Jeroen van der Laak's research group aims to develop, validate and implement artificial intelligence to support pathology diagnostics.

Kidney physiology

Jeroen de Baaij's research group wants to decipher the mechanisms of electrolyte disorders.

Nephrology

Luuk Hilbrands's research group focuses on the development of personalized treatment strategies for kidney transplant recipients. Major research areas are type and intensity of immunosuppression.
