The masterclass aims to teach senior staff hospital doctors, pharmacists and policy makers. For most optimal course uptake, it is recommended to sign-up as a team of diverse specialties from the same hospital setting.

• Senior medical hospital staff (ID, microbiology, clinical pharmacy, ICU, paediatrics etc.) who start to develop and / or implement an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program in their hospital / healthcare system /region / country and will train their colleagues;
• Ideally (but not exclusively) oriented at teams of diverse specialties from the same hospital setting, responsible for the implementation of an Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, including both clinicians (microbiology, ID, clinical pharmacy) and policymakers.

The course is part of the ESCMID 2-year AMS Master Certificate program (2023-2025) and is accredited with 27 EACCME credits.

We apply four price categories:                    

1. Participant high income countries - full price - €2,500.00   
2. Participant high income countries - young specialists (age <35) 50% discount - €1,250.00   
3. Participant middle income countries - 50% discount - €1,250.00   
4. Participant low income countries - 100% discount and eligible for travel reimbursement   

The program contained a mix of lectures and interactive working session and included the following topics:  

• Multidrug resistant pathogens, transmission risk, and incidence Suriname  (lecture) 
• Isolation precautions in hospital (lecture) 
• Contact tracing investigations (lecture) 
• Knowledge transfer, training and behavior change in infection control (lecture) 
• Case-based discussions on IPC topics (working session) 
• Hepatitis B and vaccination and protection of new healthcare workers (lecture) 
• Infection prevention and patient transfer to other hospitals 
• Case study on surveillance surgical site infections (interactive working session) 
• Monitoring and surveillance hand hygiene (interactive working session)
• Roadmap infection prevention and AMR in Suriname, 5-year plans (Lecture) 
• Case-based discussion, focus on questions and solutions from the daily practice

Over 40 people participated in this training, co-organized with PAHO in Suriname.
