Goals

To develop innovative infection prevention measures, diagnostic strategies, antimicrobial therapy, and outbreak preparedness/response measures (innovation science).
To promote the systematic uptake of proven innovative care into routine practice, policy, and guidelines (implementation science).
To ensure that insights obtained from research findings in the above two domains are translated into educational programs (educational research).
To extend methodology on efficient research design and data collection related to all the above domains.

Research groups contributing to this research program

Antifungal pharmacology

Roger Brüggemann's research group aims to develop innovative and personalized antimicrobial pharmacological approaches in order to reduce infectious disease related morbidity and mortality.

Clinical pharmacy

David Burger's research group uses clinical pharmacology to improve antiviral therapy globally. We focus mainly on HIV. Our main areas of interest are drug-drug interactions, pediatric pharmacology and therapeutic drug monitoring.

Medical microbiology

Heiman Wertheim's research group works on feasible solutions with impact to tackle infectious diseases in various settings, from low income to high income.
