Over Max Cenci

Maximiliano Cenci was born in Caxias do Sul, Brazil in 1978. After obtaining a Dental Degree from the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPel), Brazil, in 2001, he lectured for one year at that organization and, after that, finished an MSc degree in Restorative Dentistry at UFPel Pelotas in 2004. After that, Cenci was trained in public health (specialist certification in 2005) and cariology (Ph.D. in 2008) at the State University of Campinas, Brazil. The Ph.D. trajectory included one year of sandwich internship at the Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam.

In 2008, Cenci took up a tenured position as Associate Professor (Cariology and Restorative Dentistry) at the School of Dentistry, UFPel, Brazil. At UFPel, he became Head of the Graduate Program in Dentistry (2012-2016) and Head of the International Office (2017-2021). 

In 2022, Cenci started a position as Assistant Professor at Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He is currently involved in teaching and researching responsible decision-making and preventive dentistry. Max Cenci is the author or co-author of more than 190 scholarly publications, most of them in Web of Science and Scopus collections, which have been cited more than 8300 times. He has supervised or co-supervised 32 Ph.D. theses and currently supervises 6 Ph.D. candidates.
