Over Henk Schers

Henk Schers (MD, PhD) is an academic GP in health centre Thermion in Nijmegen since 1999, and Professor of General Practice, Principal Clinician and REshape fellow at the department of Primary and Community Care at Radboud University Medical Centre. He finished his PhD on continuity of care in 2004, supervised projects on continuity of care since then, and co-authored book chapters and more than 20 papers on continuity of care that were published in peer-reviewed journals. In recent years his research focus has shifted towards innovative concepts, networks and research at the intersection of primary and secondary care, eg elderly care, oncology, palliative medicine, and osteoartritis. He was appointed as professor in 2021 and (co)-authored over 150 PubMed publications. He is head of the unit Patient Care of the department, and chairs the Dutch consortium of academic primary care collaborations.
